Christmas Wishes

Step One

Make a post (public, friends-locked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ.

The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love an icon of 'X' that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

If you wish for real life things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you. Include some version of these guidelines in your LJ, so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two

Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use (or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free) do it!

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf: to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not, it's your call.

There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

The List!

1. Ratties!(2) and rat supplies! (cage, toys, feeding supplies, etc.)

2. New music! Send me mp3s! Make me mix mp3 playlists! You can drop them in our sharing folder if we're MSN buddies or email them via gmail

3. A 60"+ spring-loaded curtain tension rod

4. The memorial tattoo following my grandmother's death

5. Someone to take engagement photos of [info]warmbear and I

6. Leg warmers

7. A (pirated?) copy of Photoshop 7 or higher

Really, I don't need anything else. Give a homeless person a bagel or something.

I know a lot of you have had various levels of involvement with theatre over your lifetimes, and if you're looking to get back into the swing of it, here's a great, fun, opportunity! Also, please pass it along if you have friends who might be interested.

AUDITION NOTICE

From The Future, Montreal's premier emerging geek theatre, is seeking puppeteers/actors for its upcoming TYA production: Play!. Group auditions will take place at the end of September. Performance date is December 6th at the Centaur Theatre Saturday Morning Children's Series + 2 more presentations, dates TBA.

Kamilah is eleven and soccer is her only passion. She tries out for and makes the soccer team, and is having the time of her life until the pressures of the media, her strict Muslim father, Bahmood, and her feelings of alienation start to crowd in on her elation. She and her team are headed for the championship game when Kamilah gets called off the field for wearing a hijab! With everyone going on about who's right and who's wrong, the kids wonder if the grownups will ever understand that they just want to play soccer.

We are seeking three puppeteers/actors for this production to form an ensemble cast, playing various characters. The show features hand and paper puppets, as well as overhead projector effects, and classic rock parodies.

To book an audition, please email theatrefromthefuture@gmail.com or call 514-481-2849.

If you have them, please include headshot & resume. Movement clothes for auditions, please.

Even Though You All Don't Know Them

Big huge congratulations to both my parents, who succeeded in securing additional operating funding for both of their theatre companies (the Centaur Theatre, and Geordie Productions), out of the Canada Council for the Arts' so-called "Grants Competition" for Supplementary Operating Funds Initiative (government blah blah blah government). They put a ton of work (and a ton of stress) into those grant applications, and I'm really happy and proud that those came through.

For curious fine arts nerds (you know who you are...), a full list of "successful organisations" can be found here.
